Messenger Some time ago, I found myself single again shock, horror! But too often those opinions were based on anecdotes, assumptions about human behaviour I knew to be wrong, or — worse — pure misogyny. As a psychologist who has studied attraction, I felt certain that science could offer a better understanding of romantic attraction than all the self-help experts, pick-up artists and agony aunts in the world. And so I began researching the science of how we form relationships. Location, location So what does this science of attraction tell us? Well, first, it turns out that one of the strongest predictors of whether any two people will form a relationship is sheer physical proximity. About a half of romantic relationships are formed between people who live relatively near each other and the greater the geographical distance between two people, the less likely they are to get together. Of course, online dating and dating apps have changed where we meet our future partners. But even online, geography continues to have an influence.

Check new design of our homepage! Humanistic Theory The humanistic theory is a psychology perspective that considers that all people are inherently good. To reach the level of ‘goodness’ every person must go through certain phases in life. This article discusses what those phases are and explains what this theory is all about. PsycholoGenie Staff Humanistic psychology, also known as the humanistic approach, is an approach or perspective of studying psychology.
This approach is quite broad and applies to the society at large. A major problem of this theory is that it is vast and focuses on irrational issues. For example, you cannot make a graph of love, it’s too vague and also unpredictable. The second force was derived by psychologists such as Ivan Pavlov, John B. Skinner who studied the science of behavior. On the dimension of psychology, Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, and Clark Moustakas propagated humanistic psychology which is associated with deeper and irrational non-mathematical issues such as health, love, spirituality, hope, creativity, nature, and self-actualization.
The basic definition is that every human being can be a contributor to the society and can be a good or successful person at heart. This theory believes that people are inherently good. However, to reach that level of ‘goodness’ a person goes through what is known as ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’.

I had worked alongside mental health teams, had trained for and worked with victims of domestic violence. I completed a course at University in Counselling and another course in life coaching. Yet, none of these experiences, had given me the depth of knowledge that I had of understanding sociopathic behaviour more than being personally involved with more than one. It is a depth of understanding that was not available to me in a working or educational capacity. I spent the last year in support forums for victims.
This led me to understand the patterns of behaviour, how they were universal, and how stories were almost identical. I had been thinking in recent times that perhaps I should return to university and obtain a qualification specifically for what I write. The sociopath in the therapy setting, is no different. What you describe about his drinking behavior and symptoms does sound like advanced alcoholism. Again, he needs to see a doctor, because quitting drinking alone could be dangerous. But whatever happens, always remember that you did not cause it.
You can ask him to see a doctor, but whether he does or not, it will be his decision, not yours.

SHARE This is one of the most common dilemmas my patients have brought to me over the past four decades. Though there are multiple variations on the theme, there is one way in which they all are similar: Triangles are stable when all three legs are connected. A floppy relationship triangle exists when the man in question is at the apex of that triangle and the two women are represented by the other two points. Each woman is connected to the man but they are not usually connected to each other.
There are many ways that can happen. The gamut can run from two women who have known one another in the past, even possibly friends, to total strangers who are now connected to each other only by being attached in some way to the same man. Floppy relationship triangles are essentially unstable and the outcomes are not only unpredictable, but often dire.
There are many factors that can affect these triangulated relationships, and how they are combined can affect the outcome in different ways. Time Elapsed A new separation is clearly more undefined. Committed couples often hit major snags in a relationship and lose each other for a period of time.

Its meaning is felt more than it is clearly expressed. Love is fascinating and complex. Romantic love, in particular, seems to be a beautiful mystery we find hard to explain. But because playing a game necessarily translates into masking your authentic self, these rules cannot deliver the kind of genuine partnership on which true love is built.

Abstract Background In the field of video game violence experienced serious reversals with repudiations of the current research by the US Supreme Court and the Australian Government as non-compelling and fundamentally flawed. Scholars too have been calling for higher quality research on this issue. The current study seeks to answer this call by providing longitudinal data on youth aggression and dating violence as potential consequences of violent video game exposure using well-validated clinical outcome measures and controlling for other relevant predictors of youth aggression.
Method A sample of , mainly Hispanic youth, were tested at 3 intervals, an initial interview, and 1-year and 3-year intervals. Results Results indicated that exposure to video game violence was not related to any of the negative outcomes. Depression, antisocial personality traits, exposure to family violence and peer influences were the best predictors of aggression-related outcomes. Interpretation The current study supports a growing body of evidence pointing away from video game violence use as a predictor of youth aggression.
Public policy efforts, including funding, would best be served by redirecting them toward other prevention programs for youth violence. Previous article in issue.
